Today is our anniversary.

Prior to 2002, if someone had said we would end up together I would have laughed it off. We are way too different. Sure, we have known each other since we were in 3rd grade, and have always been friendly... but, to be in a relationship? I think not.

Well, dear reader, the universe had plans for us and 22 years ago my sister and her then-boyfriend dragged us both to the same party, and by the time we left that party he and I were making out in the backseat of the car on the ride home. It was super classy.

The next night he invited me to his house and he cooked me dinner. Swoon. Fresh salmon from the Farmer's Market. And lots of wine.

And, since that night we have hardly been apart.

We have been together for nearly half of our lives and I am fortunate to say that it has been easy and the years have flown by. The boy who got into a lot of trouble as a teenager and the girl who (mostly) kept her nose clean ended up being the perfect complement to one another.
